Things Change

[styled_box]”Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn’t stop for anybody.” ~ Stephen Chbosky[/styled_box]

This quote came from The Perks of Being a Wallflower.  A great story if you haven’t read it or seen the movie I recommend doing so.

Have you ever been in a situation where something changed and you though the world would end?  A break up, the loss of a loved one, a friend moving away or maybe a job lay-off?  I’ve been through all of these at one point or another in my life and guess what, life went on….it didn’t stop for me or for anyone else, it just kept going.

Change is sometimes hard to accept.  Harder for some than others for sure!  The important thing to remember when you’re faced with a change is that most likely life will not end.  You may be sad for a while, you may feel like you can’t go on, but you can.  Be kind to yourself, take baby steps to keep moving forward.

There is a cycle of change that we all go through, some travel through faster than others.  You will most likely feel sad, angry, denial and feelings of that nature before you can move forward to accepting the change and figuring out your new “norm”.  But you can do it and you will!

Have you ever wondered why some people can move through faster the cycle faster than others?  It’s because those that do usually surround themselves with people that care about them and they find a safe place to heal.  They are also focused on the positive (memories or aspect of the situation and they look for the lesson in what is/has happened.  Everything in your life is there for a reason, there is a lesson in everything – what did the person teach you, what did you learn from that job and/or the way you were treated during the lay-off, break-up, etc.

Do you best to always look for the positive and to continue moving forward.  The only thing in life that’s constant is change!
